Mentor is one of success. Without a mentor, you will need a longer time to succeed. Maybe, without mentor you can succeed. But you have to find ways, formulas, ideas, and more for a long time. therefore you need a shortcut.
Every successful person you see in business magazines and television news turns out to have mentors as well. As Entrepreneur wrote, Mark Zuckerberg was learning a lot from Steve Jobs, Bill Gates studied with Warren Buffet. While Michael Bloomberg studied to William R. Salomon. But finding a mentor is not so easy. You must know some important things about mentors.
1. Find people around you that you think are successful.
2. Do not just email him and ask them to become your mentor. Business is professional. But, this time the affair is more to personal relationships.
3. Arrange first what the definition of success for you. What do you want to achieve and what your ultimate goal would be.
4. Do not be greedy. Your mentor really wish you would pay the time to teach you. But, not the direct pay they expect. They hope you can help others also in the future.
5. Do not worry if there is no progress. You can look for other people and make them your mentor. After all, it does not matter if you learn from many mentors. The important one, you have no intention or desire to quit.
